John Wolf is the owner and head trainer of Wolf Fitness Systems based in Salinas, California. As a lifelong advocate of health, fitness and martial art John has spent most of his life training in one or more systems that would educate him in each of these passions.
From the age of 4 he trained a “mixed martial art” called BOJUKA an art that combined striking and ground fighting with joint locks and submissions. The art was the combination of Western & Chinese Boxing (BO), Judo & Jujitsu (JU) along with Karate (KA). It was taught to John at an early age through his experiences with these different arts in the dojo that each has specific application. The goal of BOJUKA training was to not only be able to understand the specific application of each art but to be able to apply them as appropriate. The desired result would allow the student the ability to weave in and out of the skills of striking, ground fighting or submission wrestling seamlessly to maximize the effectiveness of the system.
As John started training in various fitness and strength modalities it struck him that many did not offer the flexibility to do what was encouraged in his previous martial art experience. The concepts and lessons learned were in no doubt valuable but also had the tendency to be very polarizing. Some systems encouraged the focus of maximum strength or power endurance or a variety of other attributes but more often than not failed to work all of these into a comprehensive system that allows for working on each of these concurrently and/or individually. John’s goal was to find, use and develop tools and systems with the same flexibility and versatility of the martial art he learned in his youth.
Evolution Kettlebell Groundwork is the result of John’s experiences working with some of the world’s best coaches. He has designed a complementary system that fills in the gaps of extreme range mobility, strength, power in most other systems. It was designed to work in conjunction with and a compliment to Traditional Martial Art training, MMA training, BJJ, TACFIT, CrossFit, Powerlifting, Olympic Weight Lifting and any other conventional and/or functional system of fitness. If your training results have stalled or significantly slowed down try a 6 week cycle of EKG then revisit your old training program for a boost in performance!
